Evangeline J. Cater, 91, a lifelong resident of Montpelier and for the last three years a resident of 37 Main St. in Essex Junction, died Wednesday evening at the Fanny Allen Hospital. She was born in Montpelier, Sept. 1, 1897, the daughter of Eben K.
and Emma (Lucas) Butler. She was employed at Capital City Press as an accountant and worked until her 75th birthday. Mrs. Cater was a member of Bethany Congregational Church of Montpelier. She was the widow of Frank E.
Cater, who predeceased her in July 1921. She was also predeceased by two brothers; Harold and James T. Butler; and a sister, Gladys Butler Moore. Surviving are her son, Roland E. Cater and his wife Marilyn of Essex Junction; grandson, Frank Cater, and his wife Robin of Essex Junction; three granddaughters, Jean Cater, Susan Cater, and Anne Cater of Essex Junction; two great-granddaughters, Andrea and Sara Cater of Essex Junction; great-grandson, Sean Cater of Essex Junction; a sister, Abbie F.

Elizabeth S. Morse, 88, a longtime Montpelier resident, died Thursday, Oct. 20, in the Burlington Convalescent Center after a long illness. She was born in Montpelier, May 11, 1900, the daughter of Elbert and Anna Stone. She received her early education in Montpelier and graduated from Montpelier High School.
She married Theron Morse in 1924. He died in 1976. Mrs. Morse had been employed by the state of Vermont for many years. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Montpelier, Rob Morris Chapter OES in Montpelier, the Montpelier DAR and the Montpelier Women's Club.
Surviving are her daughter, Mrs. Patricia Morse Poulos of Burlington; two granddaughters, Mrs. Bonnie Ferguson of Indianapolis, and Mrs. Mary Tripp of Georgia, a greatgrandson, Alexander Tripp of Georgia; two Rachel Tripp of Georgia, and Jennifer Langevin of Indianapolis. A private memorial service and burial will take place at the convenience of the family.

HENRY FLAVIEN ROBERT BRANCHAUD RUTLAND Henry Flavien Robert Branchaud, 95, of 13 Elm died Wednesday evening at the Rutland Regional Medical Center.
He was born March 30, 1893, in Rutland, son of Henry Honore Branchaud and Rosalie Henrietta (L'Heureux) Branchaud. He attended Rutland public schools and Rutland High School, he went on to Mariste French College, Iberville, P.Q., Canada, Brooklyn Electrical School in Brooklyn, N.Y., and Sargent and Greenleaf Safe and Lock School, Rochester, N.Y. Mr. Branchaud served in the U.S. Navy, May 13, 1910, to March 31, 1915, and in the U.S.
Army as Master Sergeant, Q.M.C., as French interpreter under Col. Christian A. Bach, and also served with the 43rd Regiment of Chasseurs-A-Pied. was awarded the U.S. Silver Star, the French Croix De Guerre, with Palm, the Medaille de La Marne, and the Medaille D'Argonne et de Vauquois.
His duties included member of the rifle team, gunpointer and expert rifleman. After discharge from the Army he worked for, and traveled with, Governor Clement for several years. He also worked as a machinist-toolmaker, gunsmith, safe and vault service registered title (Vermont Locksmiths) and was a member of the Associated Locksmiths of America. Mr. Branchaud was a a a a a a a a Rutland city alderman, life member of the VFW Post 648, Veterans of World War War Barracks 1929, American Legion Post 31, and 50-year member of Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 1001.
Mr. Branchaud was very active in Center Lodge No 34 and served as past master. He was past High Priest, Davenport Chapter No. 17, Royal Archmasons; past T.I. Master of Davenport Council No.
12, Royal and Select Masters; past Commander of Killington Commandery No. 6. in 1952, 1955, 1968; past Prior-York Cross of life member of Convent General No. 657, past Grand Soverign of the Red Cross of Constantine; Honorary past Grand Soverign of Canada; awarded honorary Legion of Honor by International Order of De Molay; past Patron of Phyllis Chapter No. 56, OES; past District Deputy Grand Master of the Fourth Masonic District; past President of the Past Masters Association; Member of Cairo Temple, AAONMS; past T.P.

Fred A. Bovia 76, passed away peacefully within the early hours of Oct. 20, 1988, at the Vermont Veterans Nursing Home in Bennington. He was born July 8, 1912, in Middlebury, the son of Frederick and Flora (Shippy) Sr. vated from Winooski High School.
He later joined the U.S. Army and served during World War II. He was awarded the Good Conduct and Victory Medals along with other citations of merit. He married Rita Stuart in 1942. He leaves his sister, Vivian Bovia of Burlington.
His brother, Harry Bovia, predeceased him in April 1988. He also leaves children and five grandchildren, Craig, Bovia and his son and daughter Alexander and Roxane, Gary Bovia who resides in California, Fred Bovia Ill and his son and daughter who also live in California, Michael Bovia and his Jessica who live in Vermont, Bovia and Ms. daughter. Pamela Bovia who both live in Massachusetts. A memorial service will be held Monday at 11 a.m.
