#CBA subsidiary #BankWest has announced plans to transition to a fully digital bank, this unfortunately means they are likely to close all their physical branches. This follows an earlier move that saw Bankwest withdraw from business banking that resulted in the closure of almost off of their customers business bank accounts.Bankwest suggests it will invest in it's #MortgageBroker channel to keep a steady inflow of business which they will lose from their branch network. It's likely that CBA are 'testing the waters' with their subsidiary for a taste of the future in what will likely see many lenders, including the big 4 move towards a branchless network.

Bankwest is set to close all 60 of its branches across Western Australia by the end of the year, leaving many regional communities without bricks and mortar banking services. There is also a circulating print screen that CBA will remove all ATMs from QLD branches by 15/7/ 2025, with the rest of the States to follow shortly after and how they look forward to a cashless Australia.😳Commonwealth Bank also has a carbon footprint feature on internet banking, an app that shows how many trees a customer has destroyed based on spendingPartnered with eco start-up to encourage sustainability from Australians. Cutting cash in regional areas is the low hanging fruit. There are so many reasons to support cash from being an insurance for when power goes out and the internet goes down to being able to avoid bank charges, trade between neighbors, buying from curbside stalls with honesty buckets to children having access to money for spending to old people who aren't tech savvy. Wrong on so many levels. And this does seem to go against the spirit of the moratorium CBA signed on branch closures until 2026 as part of aparliamentary inquiryinto the impact on regional Australia, this did not include the Bankwest subsidiary. The bank will, however, retain the 15 branches converting to the CBA brand as long as the moratorium is in place. So it seems CBA are determined to end cash regardless. People meanwhile remain free to vote with their feet.If you want to see my posts, you can click on the 🔔 on my profile, but I am told that this is not guaranteed. You may have to go to my activity and will have more of a chance getting my posts in your newsfeed, if you like, comment or share.🧡 Below is the direct link to my website with my in-depth articles & email list sign up 👉 https://lnkd.in/gDMu9iEnSourcehttps://lnkd.in/gsPzZAfn
